How many of you have written your Artist Statement? Did you find it difficult? How did you do it? What tricks or formula did you use, if you used one?
I ask because I have been trying to write one for years. Now I absolutely need one and still cannot accomplish the feat. One must write truthfully, yet positively about oneself and art, yet leave out the flaws. I cannot seem to do it.I seem to lack a necessary amount of ego needed to complete this project. I see my flaws as challenges I need to conquer to improve, so to me they are vital. I am stuck at this point.
I set out 2 hours ago to write one. I consulted with almight Google for advice, and found some very good articles. One in particular I thought could be helpful was [link] After taking the time to follow all the steps, and feeling somewhat optomistic, I came to the part about writing three paragraphs about yourself. All my previous work came to naught, as I sat there unable to compile all the information into a statement. Frustrated is putting it mildly.
Is there anyone out there that has some advice on how to present yourself in an Artist statement? All help is appreciated, please comment.
Much to my pleasure, the return of my regular Spotlight Feature!

Andy is a fabulous graphite artist from Great Briton. Picture Perfect does not describe the talent and detail of his works! I hope you will be as impressed by his drawings as I was. A great inspiration to all of us out there with pencils in hand. Please do have a visit to his gallery and don't forget to leave behind a comment or two. Let's keep inspiring each other!
The Catwalk features a snapshot of several artists in our community. These artists all have a thing or two in common. Vision, excellent execution in relaying that Vision, and an amazing amount of skill.
